Officials in Nigeria say domestic flights are now available for the first time since restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of the corona virus began.
Airports in the capital, Abuja, and its largest city, Lagos, reopened for flights Wednesday, July 8th, 2020, with more airports resuming operations within a week.
Air travelers wanting to travel from Lagos to Abuja or Abuja to Lagos are able to use the Airports after three months of Lockdown by the government.
No date has been announced for international flights to resume. But the General Manager Public relations, Nigeria Civil aviation authority, Sam Adurigboye said they are waiting for health officials and presidential taskforce on covid19 to advise and give directive on when to open.
The resumption of domestic flights to lift Africa’s largest economy comes with some new protocols, including passengers getting their temperature checked and maintaining social distancing.
Nigeria has gradually relaxed restrictions in recent weeks, including allowing interstate travel.
